What I collect, and what I do with it
Last updated September 29, 2026
MilePost Labs, LLC is a one-person software practice. This page covers milepostlabs.com, the client portal behind it, and how clients pay me. The short version: I collect only what I need to answer you, do the work and get paid. I count visits without cookies to see which pages are useful, I don't run ads, and I never sell or rent anyone's information.
When you get in touch
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, your organization if you have one, the kind of work you have in mind and your message. It arrives in my inbox so I can reply. I use it for that conversation and nothing else. I don't add you to a mailing list.
If you're a client
- Client portal. You sign in with the email address your project was set up with. The portal shows the links and notes I've prepared for your project: your documents, billing and your site.
- Project records. I keep your contact details, our agreements, invoices and the working materials for your project. Shared documents live in a Google Drive folder that only you and I can open.
- Payments. Invoices and payments are handled by Stripe. When you pay by card or bank account, you enter those details on Stripe's secure pages. I never see or store your full card or account number. I see the payment amount, date and status, and the name and email on the invoice.
Cookies and tracking
This site uses no advertising pixels and no tracking cookies. The only cookies are the ones needed to keep a client signed in to the portal. They're set by the sign-in service and do nothing else.
To see how many people visit and which pages they read, I count visits on the public pages with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, doesn't follow you to other sites, and gives me totals (pages viewed, the site that sent you, country, device type), not a profile of you. The client portal isn't counted. This information is never sold, rented or shared with anyone.
The services I rely on
A few trusted providers handle parts of this for me. Each one receives only what it needs for its job:
- Vercel hosts the site. Like any web host, it keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and reliability. Its Web Analytics also gives me the cookie-free visit totals described above.
- Resend delivers contact-form messages to my inbox.
- Clerk runs sign-in for the client portal.
- Stripe processes invoices and payments.
- Google hosts shared project folders in Google Drive, and serves the fonts this site uses.
Their own privacy policies govern how they handle that information.
How long I keep things
Enquiries that don't lead to a project stay in my email only as long as they're useful, and I'll delete one if you ask. Client records and invoices are kept for as long as the working relationship lasts, and after that for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your choices
You can ask to see what I hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, apart from anything I'm legally required to keep, such as invoices. Email me at mfugel@milepostlabs.com and I'll take care of it.
Children
This site is for businesses and organizations. It isn't directed at children, and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If how I handle information changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
